Definitely not one of my favorites but I'm posting it anyway because its sort of a preview of whats to come. I'll probably move this to the scraps folder when this project really gets underway. There are 11 bridges in Portland, OR crossing the Willamette River which divides east and west Portland. The city has acquired a nickname "Bridgetown" because of all the bridges. There are also several more on the Columbia river on the Northern edge of Portland next to Washington. My plan is to document all the Willamette bridges in Portland city limits. This will entail scouting out the best spot to photograph these bridges and then waiting for the right lighting conditions to photograph them under which will most likely be either sunset or sunrise(If I can drag myself out of bed that early). Also not just any sunset will do, I plan on all of these showing my skills and patience as a photographer to the fullest. This project will take quite some time while waiting for the conditions to be just right for each photo. I'll try and do some of my scouting in the off days. I'm hoping I can have it finished by the time I have my show in March but that will depend on the conditions this winter and Portland is a very rainy place in the winter. I'll probably focus on the more interesting bridges first such as the St Johns Bridge pictured here first and then work on the others. So anyway thats what I'm working on. I figured it would be a good idea to start working on some series of work rather than just random photos from a days outing.
Well? how has the project been coming? This was quite a long comment! I too have aspirations to photograph the many bridges of the Northwest. I hope some time soon to make something like a coffee table book or something, just with lots of pictures of all the cool bridges in the NW. It's difficult to find time though with school and work and such, but it should turn out pretty good... let me know if you have more bridge shots! I have a favorites folder dedicated to bridges that needs some entries from your gallery...
Honestly I've been so busy lately that I don't have anything done since this one. You are doing much better than me. It has been dark by the time I get off of work until very recently so I haven't been able to take photos on weekdays. Then there is the notorious portland rain in the winter and most weekends have been pretty rainy. The few nice weekends we've had I've been out shooting nature. So I'm still thinking about the bridge project but it may be a long process.
I really like this. I live near Portland and always mean to visit there more often, its a fabulous city with much to offer for entertainment and beauty. Great picture, even though it isn't your favorite...
